Bulgaria: additional funds for infrastructure projects

01-bulgariaThe Bulgarian government made additional changes to the Transport and Transport Infrastructure Operational Programme for the 2014-2020 programme period as a bill for approval by the European Commission.
Three important infrastructure projects were included within the scope of the programme: the completion of the western arc of Sofia’s ring road, additional works to the project for the rehabilitation of the Plovdiv-Burgas railway line and the extension of the section of the third metro line in Sofia.
The changes will mean a redistribution of the annual allocations under the European Regional Development Fund without altering the total amount for the period.
The initially approved EUR 16.5 million for this year have been increased by EUR 25 million to cover for the expenditures on the three additional projects. To compensate for the increase in 2016, the allocations for each of the next three years have been decreased by EUR 8.3 million.
