Brisbane’s Central Station modernisation to be launched

brisbane-centralstationupgrade_image1In September, works to transform Brisbane’s Central Station will be launched under a three-year program. The value of the project is USD 51.57 million.
The project includes the complete modernisation of the platforms, a new roof, new lifts and modernisation of the stairs and escalators leading to platforms, an additional escalator from the concourse to ANZAC Square to reduce congestion and the a refurbishment of the back of house facilities, including offices, communications rooms and first aid areas.
The station will remain open and operational throughout the project. Work will be staged and occur mainly over weekends and at night in order to reduce customer impact. The first works will be the redesign and refurbishment of the back of house facilities, followed by platform works, starting in early 2017.
