Bombardier wins a new maintenance contract in China

China RailwayChina Railway Group awarded Bombardier Sifang (Qingdao) Transportation (BST), the Chinese joint venture of Bombardier Transportation, a maintenance contract for 32 high-speed trains manufactured by BST for the Chinese railway network.

EUR 159 million is the value of the contract that covers different levels of maintenance services for a total fleet of 280 coaches which includes the series of CRH1A-A, CRH1A, CRH1E and CRH380D.

All the maintenance will be completed by the end of 2021.

In the last two years, BST has provided maintenance services for more than 1,200 high-speed train cars and has delivered the service with high quality. The award of this new maintenance contract further illustrates both customer’s trust in BST and BST’s full capacity and strong competitiveness to deliver integrated solutions in the high-speed train sector.

In January 2020, the state-owned railway company awarded Bombardier Sifang (Qingdao) Transportation (BST) a EUR 321 million contract to perform different levels of maintenance for 656 high-speed train CRH1A-A, CRH1A, CRH1E and CRH380D coaches, forming a fleet of 71 high – speed trains. Under the contract, all the car fleet should be maintained by the end of 2020.

Also last year, the Chinese joint venture of Bombardier Transportation was awarded two contracts to deliver new high – speed trains. In January, China Railway signed a EUR 380 million contract for the delivery of ten 16-car trainsets, totalling 160 CR400AF cars.

Another train contract was signed in November 2020, for the delivery of 14 eight-car trains by January 2021. EUR 209 million was the value of the contract. This year, Bombardier was awarded a EUR 38 million to deliver China Railways two 8-car high-speed trains.
