Bangkok Orange Line contracts signed

The Mass Rapid Transit Authority of Thailand (MRTA) awarded six contracts for the construction of Orange metro line in Bangkok Metropolitan Area. The construction of the line will be launched this year and is estimated to be completed in 2023.
The total value of the contracts is Baht 79.2 billion (USD 2.26 billion). Unique Engineering and Construction Co was awarded two of the contracts and the rest of four contracts were signed with CKST Joint Venture formed by CH Karnchang Plc and Sino-Thai Engineering and Construction Plc, and Italian-Thai Development Plc and Unique Engineering and Construction Co.
The contracts signed with CKST Joint Venture involve the tunnel works and the construction of seven underground stations and the construction of maintenance depots and parking buildings,
Unique Engineering and Construction Co will build the elevated infrastructure between Khlong Ban Ma and Suwinthawong Road in Min Buri and the construction of tracks from the Thailand Cultural Centre to Surinthawong.
The 23 km line will have 17 stations, of which 10 will be underground stations and 7 will be elevated. The Orange Line rail will connect to the Blue Line at the Thailand Cultural Center station.
The Deputy Prime Minister Somkid Jatusripitak chaired the signing of contracts to kick off construction of the Orange Line train extension this June.
