Bangalore launches tender for new metro line

The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) launched a tender to build the KR Puram-Silk Board (Outer Ring Road) metro line. This follows the permission given by the state Cabinet for corporate funding of the 17-km fully elevated metro line. The tender has been split into three packages, each one consisting of viaduct and station work.
Package 1 concerns construction works for a 7 km section between Silk Board and Bellandur, as well as four metro stations at a cost of Rs 4.27 billion (EUR 53.2 million). The deadline for bid submission is 13 April.
Package 2 calls for works for a 6.5 km section between Bellandur and Doddanakundi, as well as five metro stations at a cost of Rs 4.16 billion (51.8 million euros). The deadline for bid submission is 17 April.
Package 3 includes works for elevated structures from Doddanakundi station to K R Puram Interchange and the Baiyappanahalli depot, as well as four metro stations at a cost of Rs 3.86 billion (48 million euros). The deadline for bid submission is 20 April.
The tenders are scheduled to be finalised in three months. The metro line with 13 stations is expected to be completed by 2021.
