Azerbaijan to involve in Nakhchivan-Kars railway project (Turkey)

The project of Nakhchivan-Kars railway line (Turkey) will be submitted to the Azerbaijani government after a detailed research, announced Musa Panahov, Azerbaijan’s Deputy Transport Minister Musa Panahov.
Currently, Turkish specialists are working over the project on connecting the railways with the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic. Azerbaijani experts are also involved in this process.
“This is due to the fact that much of the works will be carried out on the territory of Azerbaijan,” Panahov added.
The project envisages the construction of around 13 kilometers of new railway section on the Azerbaijani territory, as well as reconstruction of 160 kilometers of railroads.
“This is a large scale project and it will be submitted to the government of the country after a detailed study,” the deputy minister said.
According to preliminary data, the implementation of the Nakhchivan-Kars project will cost one billion manats (EUR 1B).
