Argentina to invest USD 220 million in railways

The President of Argentina, Cristina Fernández de Kirchner, has highlighted the commitment of her government to restoring transport services by rail and by air, as she received new carriages for the suburban Mitre line in Buenos Aires.
“In total this is an investment of more than 220 million dollars, which is the most important investment in the last 50 or 60 years for Argentine railways,” said  Cristina Fernández.
Alluding to the investment in new rail stock and the nationalisation of air carrier Aerolíneas Argentinas, the head of state underlined the “recovery of rail and air transport” that had taken place in her presidency.
