Alstom will be responsible for the maintenance of Traxx locomotives under a framework maintenance service agreement signed with Alpha Trains.
The French manufacturer will deliver the services for up to 20 locomotives manufactured by Alstom at its depots in Italy over a period of eight years. This extensive, long-term commitment will permit Alpha Trains to enhance its full-service offering of Traxx locomotives throughout Italy.
This strategic collaboration between Alpha Trains and Alstom underscores their commitment to sustainable and efficient transportation solutions throughout Europe.
Through the maintenance of Traxx locomotives, Alpha Trains continues to bolster its Europe-wide network of professional and reliable workshops to provide its customers with the best service for maintaining a fleet of highly dependable Traxx locomotives in Italy.
“The product knowledge, the wide service network as well as the quality of maintenance delivered by Alstom have prompted us to reach this agreement, thereby enabling Alpha Trains to offer an exceptionally reliable fleet of Traxx locomotives throughout Western and Central Europe,” Gianmaria Castori, Commercial Manager for the Italian Market, said.
Alpha Trains owns more than 505 diesel, electric and dual mode locomotives certified for operation in 22 European countries. The leasing company owns an entire Traxx locomotive family including BR 186 multisystem vehicles, BR 185.1 AC (alternating current) locomotive, BR 185.2 AC (alternating current) locomotive and E 483 is a DC (direct current) electric mainline locomotive.
In May 2023, Alpha Trains celebrated the arrival of the 100th Traxx locomotive part of a service contract with Alstom signed in October 2021. The two companies have also signed in 2022 a long-term contract for the maintenance of up to 70 locomotives for freight transport services. These locomotives are serviced at Benelux Services sites in Rotterdam, Bruges and the depot in Antwerp, allowing Alpha Trains to increase reliability and flexibility for its customers,
