Alstom recognized for public transport innovation

01-alstomAlstom has been awarded the trophy of innovation for public transport in the energy and environment category for its latest catenary-free energy supply technology, SRS, at the European Mobility Exhibition, which is being held in Paris from 14-16 June 2016.
SRS, developed by Alstom experts based in Vitrolles (Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur) and Saint-Ouen (Ile-de-France) will be put into service on future lines 2 & 3 of the Nice tramway in time for 2018. The solution supplies power to the tram’s on-board energy storage system (supercapacitors) during stops in passenger stations in under 20 seconds, automatically and in total security. The recharging takes place via contact blocks fitted under the tram, which are in contact with a ground-based conductive rail.
“Alstom is proud to be awarded this trophy, which is a major acknowledgement of the creativity and unique know-how of our experts. With SRS, we confirm our competitive edge in the domain of catenary-free trams. We also accompany the transition towards electrical mobility by making our solutions compatible with road applications for increasingly environmentally-friendly transport”, declared Cristina Anderiz, Vice-President Infrastructure at Alstom.
