Agreement to improve the rail links to Port of Trieste signed

triesteMaurizio Gentile, CEO of Rete Ferroviaria Italiana (RFI), Debora Serracchiani, the President of the Italian region of Friuli-Venezia Giulia and the Commissioner of the Trieste Port Authority Zeno D’Agostino signed a MoU to improve the railway links to and from Port of Trieste.
The value of the project is estimated at EUR 70 million of which 50% is the RFI’s finance and the remaining sum is allotted by the Port System Authorities (PSA).
Under the agreement, RFI will implement the works to improve the railway connection between the port and the country’s railway network, while PSA is responsible for the modernization of the railway facilities within the port. The authorities of Friuli-Venezia Giulia Region will supervise and control all the activities that will be implemented.
