Agreement on Rail Baltica signed

balticaThe agreement on financing and implementation of the Rail Baltica has been signed by all involved parties except Lithuanian Railways that is expected to sign it within a few days. The company didn’t ink he agreement due to internal decision-making processes, that will be solved in the next few days.
Technical work is under way so nine Baltic institutions would physically sign the agreement the Baltic joint venture RB Rail CEO Baiba Rubesa told European Affairs Committee of the Latvian parliament.
According to the agreement, RB Rail will have the central manager’s role in the project, explained Rubesa. The company will manage procurements, supervise implementation of the project, as well as marketing and business activities.
Duing the meeting of the representatives of the three Baltic countries, on September 7, it was agreed on further procurement model and responsibilities in implementation the Rail Baltica project. The three parties agreed to divide all procurements into three groups: procurements organised only by the JV, the consolidation of the procurements implemented by the JV and the procurements carried out by national companies supervised by the JV. RB Rail will be the core manager of public procurements in the joint project, as well as of the marketing system and business research.
