ADY and RZD to launch transport corridor from Mumbai to Moscow

RZD-marfa_BtnjJuvIYAAURK8Azerbaijani Railways (ADY) and Russian Railways (RZD) will initiate a new multimodal project.
ADY chair Javid Gurbanov has stated that the new project will be part of transport corridor North-South and will be launched already in August.
“Within the project the goods will be delivered from north to south from the port of Mumbai (India) to Bandar Abbas (Iran) by merchant ships and then further to Rest (Rasht) by rail. From there, the freight will be taken to the Azerbaijani Astara by trucks and then proceed to Moscow by rail,” Gurbanov said.
The use of trucks in Iran is linked with the fact that railway line Qazvin-Rasht-Astara (important part of the North – South railway Corridor) has not been completed yet.
