Adif selects CAF to develop a track-test center

The Board of Directors of Adif has approved the concession contract to CAF to promote, develop and operate the railway test centre situated in Correla (Navarra), 92 km from Pamplona.
Under the decision, Adif grants the concession of a 36,000m2 railway area situated on the disused Soria-Castejón line, between Castejón and Cintruénigo.
The location was selected for technical characteristics and viability, making this line ideal for rolling stock tests, dynamic tests, as well as other railway equipment. In addition, it can be used also for loading structures, deformations on vehicles suspensions, coupling and all type of components.
The concessionaire company will also be able to access, among others, the lease of the premises of the former Corella station, belonging to Adif, to be used in auxiliary facilities of the test center.
The concession contract is available for 20 years, with an option for a five-year extension up to a maximum of 35 years. The contract also says that the land area may be expanded by 50% if additional space is required.
The main objective of the contest is to encourage technical development within Spanish railway industry. The project follows other existing models in Europe such as the test center in Velim, in Czech Republic, Wildenrath in Germany or Valenciennes in France, as well as others in China, Japan or US.
