A new metro line for Sydney

smw-mapThe New South Wales Government announced that a new metro rail for Western Sydney is the state’s next major public transport project.
The new project includes 4 new railway stations (Parramatta, Sydney Olympic Park, The Bays Precinct, Sydney CBD), and, through consultation with industry and the community, government will determine other stations along the route.
The new railway complements the existing Sydney Trains T1 Western Line, which is quickly reaching capacity. Sydney Metro West will be able to move about 40,000 people an hour in each direction.
The new railway is expected to be built largely underground and operational in the second half of the 2020s.
