Newag to supply Lublin Impulse 2 EMUs

Marshal Office of the Lubelskie Voivodship and Newag signed a PLN 146.6 million (EUR 34.2 million) contract for the supply of eight 2- Impulse 2 EMUs which will be delivered in December 2021.

Under the contract, Newag will provide quality guarantee for 64 months (five years and four months).

“The development of the regional connections is one of our priorities within the Lublin Voivodeship. I am pleased that we have successfully concluded this tender, by selecting a reliable contractor with extensive experience,” said Michał Mulawa, the Chairman of the Lubelskie regional council.

Each Impulse 2 train will have a capacity for 196 passengers, including 105 seats and they will be adapted to passengers with reduced mobility. The interior will also provide special places for bicycles.

The new ETCS-equipped trains will be able to run at speeds of 160 km/h.

The EMUs will be equipped with Wi-Fi, air conditioning system, sockets and USB ports. The trains will also be fitted with passenger counting system, interior monitoring and a passenger information system.

The Impulse 2 EMUs will replace the EN57 electric multiple units and will be deployed on four railway route: Siedlce – Łuków – Terespol, Dęblin – Lublin – Chełm, Łuków – Dęblin and Świdnik Miasto – Lublin Airport. After the electrification of the Lublin Zemborzyce – Stalowa Wola – Rozwadów line, they will also be able to travel to Stalowa Wola and Rzeszów.
