France: Languedoc-Roussillon launches the “one-Euro train”

franta_languedocFor the first time in France, the authorities in the Languedoc-Roussillon region have inaugurated the “one-Euro train” to increase the use of trains on regional railways. As part of this offer, 5% of the seats from regional express trains (TER) will be put to sale at 1 EUR/ticket. Tickets are only available online. At present, the region has around 23,000 passengers on the regional express railways. SNCF’s testing of this tariff facility since 2011 on 5 regional lines has tripled the number of passengers on this railway.
