Three bids for Belgrade tram project on Ada bridge

The tender for the installation of tram tracks on the Ada bridge in Belgrade has attracted three bids, according to an announcement of the Belgrade city government. A consortium of France’s Colas Rail and Serbian civil engineering group Energoprojekt, Austria’s Strabag and another consortium of Serbian and Spanish companies (Copisa, Altuna, Bauwesen and Geoas) placed bids in the tender, Belgrade city manager Goran Vesic said.
The Belgrade city government will analyse the submitted offers and pick the best one in the next two weeks. Construction works are expected to begin in the coming months. The value of the contract is estimated at 3 billion dinars (EUR 25.3 million).
The Ada Bridge is a cable-stayed bridge over the Sava river. The project envisages construction of two 2.7 km-long tramway tracks on the bridge which will link the Rakovica and New Belgrade neighbourhoods of the Serbian capital.
Inaugurated in 2012, the Ada bridge, over the river Sava, has a length of 969 meters.
