Warsaw 447 line modernisation project agreed

pkpLocal governments and Polish Railways have decided that Warsaw – Grodzisk Mazowiecki route is the best option for the efficient railway transport within Warsaw region.
Since February, Polish Railways, local governments and rail operators agreed to modernise the 447 suburban rail line between Grodzisk Mazowiecki and Warsaw, including the passenger facilities and information systems at Warsaw Ursus, Pruszków, Piastów, Brwinów, Milanówek and Warsaw Włochy. Within the project, it will be built a new stop at Parzniew.
‘Line 447 is one of the most important line of the Warsaw agglomeration and our priority is to upgrade as soon as possible while maintaining good communication substitute,’ Agnieszka Kwapisz, contract manager at Polish Railways said.
The project is scheduled to run tender procedures and the company is analyzing 9 applications submitted to the first stage. PKP PLK and the contactors will enter in negotiations for the possibility of shortening the time- working.
The tender on the line modernisation was announced at the end of 2015. The value of the contract is PLN 350 million (EUR 80 million) and involves the modernization of 22 km of tracks, 4 bridges and 3 viaducts and the 6 rail stations.
The modernization of the railway line will allow trains to run at 90km/h-120km/h speeds.
The project is co-financed by the EU through CEF and will be completed until 2019.
