Two more contracts signed for Fehmarnbelt

On March 21, Femern A/S has signed two contracts for consultancy services and technical support on the establishment of the fixed link across the Fehmarnbelt.
For the supply of consultancy services in the technical area, the contract was signed with Ramboll-Arup-TEC JV, and for the supply of in-house consultancy services, also in the technical area, the second contract was signed with ÅF – Hansen & Henneberg.
“We have received strong and high calibre offers from the consultancy firms that took part in the two tenders. The appointment of the two consortia underlines our confidence in the robustness of our technical platform to support our work on the current German approval process prior to the start of construction,” Technical Director Henrik Christensen, Femern A/S, said.
The Fehmarnbelt link will be an 18 km long immersed tunnel will connect Rødbyhavn in Denmark with Puttgarden in Germany. It will be the world’s longest of its type for both road and rail.
The framework agreement on consultancy services in the technical area has been signed with:
•    Rambøll-Arup-TEC Joint Venture (Denmark, UK, Holland)
Sub-consultants:
•    Schønherr A/S (Denmark)
•    WTM Engineers GmbH (Germany)
The framework agreement on in-house consultancy services in the technical area has been signed with:
•    ÅF – Hansen & Henneberg A/S (Denmark)
Sub-consultants:
•    Atkins Danmark A/S (Denmark)
•    OBERMEYER Planen + Beraten GmbH (Germany)
•    ÅF Infrastructure AB (Sweden)
Currently, Denmark is ready to get construction on its side. The main Danish environmental studies are in place and the plans for the major production facilities on Lolland have been drawn up. The Construction Act has been adopted and construction contracts have been signed with our highly skilled tunnel contractors. Construction of the Danish railway landworks between Ringsted and Rødby is already underway.
On the German side, the Fehmarnbelt project has been adopted politically, but we still need to secure the administrative construction permission from the authorities in Kiel.
