Turkish company wins Dnipropetrovsk metro line contract

Dnipropetrovsk metroLimak Construction, a Turkish company, and Dnipropetrovsk City have signed a EUR 224 million contract to build a new metro line in the city.
The 4 km metro line will have 3 main stations through the central parts of the city, Central, Theatre and Museum stations. According to estimates, the construction of the project will take 5 years, but the company’s offer stipulates that the project will be completed within 4 years. Construction works are due to begin at the end of September.
The existing six-station line will be extended by 5 kilometres and three stations will be added in order to provide metro services into the city centre, serving areas of high urban density and land-use activity.Egis was the consultant and project manager.
In January 2012, EBRD announced that the total value of the project is EUR 367 million, of which a sovereign loan of EUR 152 million to the metro company expected to be co-financed in equal proportion by an EIB loan.
