TSA to supply motors for Hanover’s new Flirt EMUs

TSA, the Austrian traction motors manufacturer, will provide 256 traction motors of type Flirt 4 for Hanover’s new EMUs, which will be delivered by Stadler under the contract for the supply of 64 Flirt trains.
The new vehicles will be operated by Transdev that won a Europe-wide public tender for operating Hanover´s suburban railway. From the end of 2021 it will be operating the 12 lines in and around the capital of Lower Saxony.
The three-part electrical EMUs with a total length of 68 meters have 8 passenger doors on each side and are capable of carrying up to almost 400 passengers. The entrance and interior of the vehicles is completely barrier-free. The new trains will be equipped with CCTV technology, modern passenger information system with monitors in each entrance area and also the on-board WiFi equipment allow the passengers to keep up-to-date in real-time during their journey. The vehicles achieve a maximum speed of 160km/h.
In November 2018, Transdev awarded Stadler the EUR 320 million contract for the delivery of the 64 Flirt trains.
