Thailand to ink EUR 2.4 billion rail contracts by autumn

ThailandContracts for the construction of five dual-track rail projects are expected to be signed by September, according to Anon Luangboriboon, inspector-general of the Transport Ministry. The total value of the contracts is 95.8 billion baht (2.4 billion euros).

One of the projects is the 196 km Nakhon Pathom-Hua Hin dual-track. Bidding on the 15.8-billion-baht (401.8 million euros) section will take place on 10 August. Bidding on the 167 km section between Prachuap Khiri Khan and Chumphon will be held on 31 August.

Another project concerns the Lop Buri-Pak Nam Pho section, which will be divided into two parts: the Ban Klub-Khok Kratiam section (10.1 billion baht – 256.8 million euros) and the Tha Kae-Pak Nam Pho section (8.8 billion baht – 223.8 million euros). Bidding for the first contract will be held on 7 September and the second on 4 September.

The Map Kabao-Thanon Chira Junction rail project will be divided into three parts: Map Kabao-Klong Khanan Jit (7.7 billion baht – 195.8 million euros), Klong Khanan Jit-Thanon Chira Junction (7 billion baht – 178 million euros) and the tunnel (9.3 billion baht – 236.5 million euros). Bidding for the first two contracts will be held on 1 September and for the third on 7 September.

The final project involves the 84 km Hua Hin-Prachuap Khiri Khan track, worth 7.3 billion baht (185.6 million euros). The winning bidder of this project is expected to sign the construction contract by next month.
