Serbia and RZD International to extend collaboration

Serbia has expressed its interest to continue collaboration with RZD International, a subsidiary of Russian Railways (RZD). The new project stipulates the modernisation of Niš-Preševo railway. The announcement was made by Zorana Mihajlović, Serbia’s Minister of Transport and Infrastructure.
“We want to discuss the development of new projects, such as the construction of a new traffic dispatching and coordination centre, the continuation of the reconstruction of Belgrade-Bar railway, but also the modernisation of Niš-Preševo”, declared Minister Mihajlović.
In the past years, RZD International and Serbia had jointly carried out several railway infrastructure rehabilitation projects.
“The reconstruction and modernisation of Stara Pazova-Novi Sad railway is developing smoothly and apart from Russian constructors, several Serbian companies are also working to this project”, pointed out Sergey Pavlov, Director General RZD International.
By the end of 2018, the Serbian Government plans to launch the preparation of the technical documentation for the project regarding the reconstruction of new sections of Belgrade-Bar railway. These sections will total 200 km.
In July, RZD International launched the construction of another railway connecting Stara Pazova to Indjija. The railway is 7-km long and is part of Stara Pazova-Novi Sad section, located on the railway which connects the Serbian capital to Budapest, the Hungarian capital.
