Sénégal plans to introduce electric rail transport

Senegal-gara_dakar-0014One of the ministers and advisers to the Senegalese President Macky Sall announced that the government plans to introduce a new train service.
The project minister and adviser Benoit Sambou refered to is the long-awaited project “The Regional Express Train (TER)”, the local media informs.
The construction of the new electric railway is to begin during the course of 2016. Serving 14 stations, it will be able to carry 115,000 passengers per day, in less than 45 minutes from Dakar to Blaise Diagne International Airport (41km).
