In the first half of 2016, RZD acquired 464.8 thousand tonnes of rail tracks. All rail tracks were purchased from domestic producers. In particular, EvrazHolding LLC supplied 364.8 thousand tonnes of rail tracks, and Mechel PAO 100 thousand tones of rail tracks.
Under the agreement with the rail track producers, RZD expects to take delivery of 875.5 thousand tonnes of rail tracks in 2016, including 655.5 thousand tonnes from EvrazHolding, and 220 thousand tonnes from Mechel.
RZD uses new rail tracks for both new rail line construction projects and for track repairs.
