Russia, Azerbaijan and Iran agree on railway tariff

During a meeting between the representatives of railway companies from Iran, Russia and Azerbaijan, it was signed a tripartite memorandum on of cooperation on a general tariff for the railway transport in 2017. The sides agreed to reduce the railway transit tariff for transport services this year.
Within this agreement, the North-South Corridor will be the main route for railway transport services and it will connect the railway networks of Azerbaijan and Iran and will offer connections to India, Iran, Azerbaijan, Russia, Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan.
Hossein Ashouri, director of the Iranian Transit Transport Committee, said that after Iran, Russia and India agreed on the implementation of the North-South corridor 14 years ago, the first experimental train on the Mumbai – Bandar Abbas – Astara – Moscow route was launched in 2016 thanks the cooperation of Iran, Russia and Azerbaijan.
