Riga: Skoda could win tender for trams

08-skodaAccording to unofficial sources quoted by LETA, Skoda Transportation has won the tender set up by Riga’s public transport company Rigas Satiksme for new low-floor trams.
Rigas Satiksme announced the tender for purchase of twenty new low-floor trams last fall. The estimated contract amount is around EUR 70 million.
Skoda Transportation also won the previous tender for the supply of low-floor trams.
The tender was contested by Stadler Polska and Pojazdy Szynowe PESA Bydgoszcz Spolka Akcyjna, which complained to the Procurement Monitoring Bureau about the technical specifications for the new trams. However, the bureau allowed Rigas Satiksme to proceed with the tender procedure.
