Pennsylvania signs railcar acquisition contract

Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA) awarded CRRC Tangshan a USD 160 million contract for the supply of 45 double-deck coaches to Philadelphia. The contract includes an option for another 10 cars for USD 23.5 million.
The first coach is expected to be delivered by the end of 2019, and will run through Philadelphia, Delaware, Bucks, Chester, Montgomery and New Jersey, mainly used for commuter transport services.
Within the tender Bombardier submitted a USD 171.5 million offer and Hyundai Rotem a USD 184.8 million offer.
