Nomad Digital provides infotainment for Great Southern Rail

Nomad Digital has partnered with Great Southern Rail (GSR) in Australia to implement its leading edge infotainment technology on the Indian Pacific train service. Forging a new relationship with GSR, Nomad has demonstrated its capacity to deliver its latest technology on the longest stretch of straight railway track in the world (4,000 km from Perth to Sydney).
Nomad enhances the passengers journey experience by providing WiFi, information and video entertainment and an annotated moving map which displays tourist information at different stages en route. The moving map works independently of WiFi connectivity, a challenge given the uniqueness of the route which traverses large expanses of land with no WiFi coverage. Nomad has now successfully delivered the first stage. The system is looking at being rolled out wider along the popular tourist route.
“The unique nature of the implementation has been a really exciting challenge combining the old with the new but ensuring we do not compromise on the aesthetic of the train. We are delighted with the result and have had great feedback,” Moin Majid, Nomad’s GM in the APACs region, said.
