Netherlands: NS plans to sell QBuzz

07-qbuzzDutch national railway company NS is looking for a buyer for regional public transport company Qbuzz. With this aim, NS will organize a thorough and transparent sales process.
With a turnover of EUR 208 million in 2015, Qbuzz is one of the largest regional public transport companies in the Netherlands. It provides bus and tram services in three regions: Utrecht, Groningen / Drenthe and South East Friesland. The company transports daily approximately 210,000 passengers.
The move will allow NS to explicitly focus on better train services on the core rail network. The cooperation with regional carriers and local governments will also become less complicated – as partners, rather than competitors.
