Moldovan Railways launched freight locomotives tender

cf-moldovaMoldovan Railways announced the tender for the acquisition of 12-15 freight locomotives and the upgrade of Basarabeasca depot facilities. This tender will be conducted by e-procurement using the EBRD Client E-Procurement Portal (ECEPP). Interested firms should register on ECEPP here  
The contract is expected to start on August 2017 and last about 18 months plus the warranty period.
The project will be co-financed by the EBRD, the EIB and EU NIF, under the railway restructuring project.
The EBRD has provided a loan to the CFM for the implementation of the Moldovan Railways restructuring project, aiming at the improvement of the railway infrastructure and modernization of the rolling stock in order to enable CFM to enhance efficiency and safety of railway services and to improve the overall performance of its railway operations. EIB is providing a parallel loan to co-finance the Project.
After signing the loan agreement with EBRD for the “Restructuring of Moldovan Railways”, negotiations with EBRD on the co-financing contract were finalised in June, total budget amounting to EUR 105 million.
In July, the Moldovan Ministry of Finances announced that will partially guarantee the reimbursement of the EBRD loan to CFM for the procurement of locomotives and modernisation of the railway infrastructure.
