Massachusetts awards Wellington Rail Yard contract

Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority awarded Barletta Heavy Division a USD 102.7 million contract for the rebuilding of Wellington Rail Yard and upgrading its signal systems. Under the contract, Barletta is responsible for the replacement of critical elements throughout Wellington Yard, allowing for the operation, proper maintenance, and reliable service for the new vehicle fleet.
The 36-month project is necessary to support the arrival of 152 new Orange Line cars in Boston metropolitan area.
The project includes the replacement of in kind elements throughout Wellington Yard in Medford to allow for the operation, proper maintenance, and reliable service for the new Orange Line fleet.
Within the tender, Barletta submitted the lowest of 3 bids for the contract. LM Heavy Civil Construction submitted a USD 111.76 million tender and J.F. White Contracting Co. a USD 111.77 million tender.
