Lithuanian Railways and Orlen Lietuva agree on transport tariffs

Lithuanian railway company Lietuvos gelezinkeliai (LG) has signed an agreement with PKN Orlen’s Lithuanian unit Orlen Lietuva, ending their long-term dispute over transport rates.
The compromise reached assumes equal division of mutual claims resulting from the dispute about applying the infrastructural fee. The sides also worked out an agreement regarding the size of tariffs and mutual obligations which both sides consider competitive and favorable from the business point of view. Also the way of applying the infrastructural fee has been agreed on.
Orlen Lietuva has long been paying much higher railway transport rates than the competition following the disassembly of a 19 km railway route to Renge (Latvia) in 2008. The ensuing dispute between Orlen and LG went into arbitration in December 2014.
