Iran and Kazakhstan to set new freight tariff conditions

Kazakhstan Temir Zholy and Railways of the Islamic Republic of Iran signed a Protocol on tariff preferences between the railway administrations of the two countries to attract additional cargo flows.
During a meeting, the representatives of the two railway companies discussed questions of increase volumes of cargo transport between the two countries, container shipments on regular basis from China to Iran and back via Kazakhstan.
The Iranian side expressed interest in the transport of food and horticultural goods from Iran to the CIS countries through the territory of Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan in refrigerated containers of KTZ.
In 2016, the volume of transport between Kazakhstan and Iran amounted 2 mil tons, 16% up compared with 2015. The export increased by 14% and increased transit between the two countries.
