Hacon to develop new mobility app in Queensland

Translink mobile appThe Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) of the Australian State of Queensland awarded Siemens Mobility a contract for the delivery of a new Translink mobile app and the implementation of an intermodal journey planner. The launch of the new app is planned for July 2024.

MyTranslink, the Queensland Government’s official travel planning app, was launched in December 2014 and has been providing passengers in the state with information and disruption alerts ever since.  For the new mobile app, the Department of Transport is relying on HAFAS.mobile from Siemens Mobility’s subsidiary Hacon. The goal is a state-of-the-art mobility app with a new UI/UX design.

An intermodal timetable information system based on another Hacon product, HAFAS.engine, will be integrated to orchestrate the large number of possible means of transport and connections for the passenger in a clear manner and according to individual preferences.

In addition to use in the app, it will also be used via the Translink website for timetable information and is expected to plan millions of journeys in the region every month. With Hacon technologies HAFAS.push for push notifications of relevant travel information and HAFAS.trm for targeted customer communication, TMR completes a comprehensive passenger experience.

With the new Translink mobile app, Queenslanders will be able to plan their door-to-door journeys seamlessly and reliably, using their preferred combination of transport services.

“The new modern customer app is all about empowering Queenslanders to make the best decisions about how they travel around our region. We want to make choosing public transport as easy as possible and the new app will make that happen with better and more accurate travel information. With the Translink app, Queenslanders will be able to plan their door-to-door journeys seamlessly and reliably, using their preferred combination of transport services,” Peter Milward, Acting Deputy Director General Translink said.
