Germany: new container terminal to be set up in Kreuztal

The intermodal operator Kombiverkehr and the rail company Kreisbahn Siegen-Wittgenstein (KSW) have recently signed a partnership contract for a new container terminal in Kreuztal (Germany), on the southern periphery of the Rhine-Ruhr region. The companies will each own a 50% stake in the new container terminal that they will operate jointly.

The new container terminal will be a 18,500 sqm facility, with two cross-loading tracks and a 200 m long siding. The project will be ready for operations in the second half of the year. The first trains are expected to arrive at the turn of the year 2017/2018.
