Alstom will deliver 19 additional Innovia APM R automated people mover vehicles to Denver International Airport, bringing the total number of units ordered to 45. The contract, valued at over USD 69 million USD, supports the airport’s continued growth and commitment to efficient, sustainable mobility.
The new vehicles will be manufactured and tested at Alstom’s facility in West Mifflin, Pennsylvania. The expansion of the APM fleet will allow the airport to operate up to eight four-car trains at a time, enhancing capacity and flexibility for one of the world’s busiest airports. In 2024, Denver International Airport recorded 82.3 million passengers and is expected to surpass 100 million by 2030.
“The expansion of the Innovia APM fleet reinforces our shared goal to deliver reliable, efficient, and sustainable transportation that will support the airport’s extraordinary growth,” said Michael Keroullé, President of Alstom Americas.
The lightweight aluminium vehicles are designed for energy efficiency, reducing power consumption by over 30%. Built using recyclable materials, the new units reflect both Alstom’s and Denver’s focus on sustainable transport.
Alstom has operated and maintained the Denver APM system since the airport’s opening in 1994 and recently secured a contract extension through to the end of 2032. Across its APM operations in the US, Alstom reports an average fleet availability of 99.5%.
Alstom remains the leading supplier of automated people mover systems in the United States, with vehicles operating at 15 airports nationwide. Its Innovia APMs are in service at 13 of the world’s busiest airports globally.
