DB and SNCF sign digitalization agreement

db-sncfDeutsche Bahn and the French railways SNCF have agreed to cooperate in the field of digitalization and have signed a declaration of intent for that purpose at InnoTrans 2016.
“In view of the progress being made by the digital revolution we must prepare ourselves as much as we can in order to be able to tackle the operational challenges and those presented by our customers,“ SNCF President Guillaume Pepy said.
The aim is to apply expertise gained so far in this area, and the experience that has already been obtained, in order to support their customers even more effectively in the future. Another objective is to clarify the prerequisites for advanced data transfer on trains, the aim being to collaborate with the telecommunications industry on improving reception, not only in the interests of customers but also for the benefit of their own applications.
“When we consider the massive opportunities that digitalization offers companies in the mobility sector, it makes sense to exchange ideas and methods with SNCF“, Chairman of the Board of DB Rüdiger Grube said at the signing ceremony.
