Chinese locomotives for Nigeria rolled out

nigeria-crrcCRRC Dalian started the shipment of the first two type CDD3B1 passenger diesel locomotives for Nigeria. They will enter into service on Abuja – Kaduna railway line, adapted to Chinese technology and standards.
The locomotives will run at 150 km/h on the standard gauge railway line. According to the CRRC Dalian, the locomotive has the strong ability against rainstorm, high humidity, dry and dusty, high temperature.
The Abuja-Kaduna rail line is one of the first standard gauge railway modernisation projects undertaken in Nigeria. The construction of the Abuja-Kaduna rail line started in 2011 and was completed in 2014.
The railway modernisation initiative in Nigeria aimed to replace the existing narrow gauge system with the wider standard gauge system.
