Cambodia – Thailand link to be completed this year

thaiCambodia – Thailand rail link will be completed at the end of this year, as planned, although there are still about 6 kilometers under construction.
“On the Cambodian side, we have only about 6 kilometers still under construction. The Thai side has confirmed that they have six kilometers of track to the border that they are constructing and they said they would finish it by August,” Minister of Transport Sun Chanthol said.
He added that the public works ministry will finish Cambodia’s six kilometers of track so the connecting link with Thailand will be done by December.
Prime Minister Hun Sen and his Thai counterpart Prayuth Chan-o-Cha agreed to restore rail links by 2016 during the Cambodia-Thailand Joint Cabinet Retreat in Bangkok in 2015. The aim is to increase trade and transport links as the two leaders vowed the triple bilateral trade volume to USD 15 billion by 2020.
