Australia announces massive railway investments

Under the 2017-2018 budget, the Australian federal government announced that is delivering a AUD 20 billion (USD 14.7 billion) investment in railways, that will cut congestion in cities, grow the regions and create thousands of new jobs.
USD 7.35 billion will be delivered for National Rail Program envisaging urban and regional passenger rail projects and additional USD 6 billion will cover the construction of Melbourne – Brisbane Inland Rail project.
For the upgrading of Victoria’s railway network will be provided USD 367.6 million, USD 582 million for Perth Metronet, USD 22 million for Melbourne Airport rail link, USD 14.8 million for Murray Basin Rail and USD 14.7 million to progress business cases for faster rail connections between major cities and their surrounding regional centres.
