Auckland City Rail Link Ltd established

New Zealand Finance Minister Steven Joyce and Transport Minister Simon Bridges and Auckland Mayor Phil Goff signed the agreements on the establishment of City Rail Link Limited to assume responsibility for delivering Auckland’s City Rail Link.
“City Rail Link Limited (CRLL) is a new company owned jointly by central and local Government, with the sole and express responsibility of successfully delivering the game-changing City Rail Link (CRL) project. This is a complex and critical piece of infrastructure that will unlock major development opportunities across central Auckland,” the Finance Minister said.
The City Rail Link project is the largest infrastructure project ever to be undertaken in New Zealand and involve the construction of a 3.45 km underground twin-tunnel that will run from Britomart station in downtown Auckland through the CBD to connect with the existing western line at Mt Eden station.
The total cost of the project is NZD 3.4 billion (USD 2.48 billion) and is jointly funded by the Government and Auckland Council.
