Antalya to join the map of high-speed railways

AntalyaTurkey’s Foreign Affairs Minister, Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, announced the route of Antalya-Burdur-Isparta high-speed railway to connect Antalya to the national high-speed railway network. Minister Çavuşoğlu also said that the implementation of necessary projects will begin soon.

This is an important step in the development of a railway high-speed project that has been discussed over the last years. Now, apart from the Eskişehir-Kütahya-Afyonkarahisar high-speed railway – whose implementation has been initiated by Turkish Railways (TCDD) – the development of Antalya-Burdur-Isparta route has also been established.

Minister Çavuşoğlu pointed out that the new railway would facilitate the connection between Antalya and the big Turkish cities by means of two separate corridors. This will significantly improve passengers’ comfort and freight transport speeds.

Due to this new project, Eskișehir, Kütahya, Afyonkarahisar railway will be connected to Antalya via Burdur and Isparta. The railway is also connected to the capital, Ankara, and to Istanbul.
