Vossloh has been awarded multiple contracts totalling approximately EUR 59 million to supply switches and rail fastening systems for major rail expansion projects in Algeria. Deliveries are scheduled to continue through to the end of 2025.
The contracts for Vossloh are part of an ambitious plan to modernise and expand the rail network in Algeria to 15,000 kilometres by 2035—more than triple its current length. Vossloh’s involvement underscores its growing presence in international infrastructure development, particularly in emerging markets.
As part of the programme, the company will supply 300 switch systems by the end of 2025. Vossloh will also provide fastening systems for Algeria’s largest rail project: a 950-kilometre line connecting the Ghar Djebilet iron ore mine in the south-west to processing centres in Tindouf and Béchar. This line will eventually facilitate both freight and passenger transport to northern cities, with completion expected by the end of 2026.
“Algeria’s rail expansion programme is impressive,” said Oliver Schuster, CEO of Vossloh AG. “We are delighted about the trust the customers have placed in us and the opportunity to once again contribute to modern and green mobility in Algeria.”
