Uzbek President approves MoU on Oman,Qatar, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan transport corridor

President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov approved a MoU on implementation of the agreement on creation of transport corridor among the Governments of Iran, Oman,Qatar, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan (Ashgabat agreement).
The Uzbek leader signed a resolution “On approval international agreement” on 15 October, which approved the memorandum.
The memorandum of understanding on implementation of the Ashgabat agreement was signed in Muscat (Oman) on 6 August 2014.
Uzbek President entrusted Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan to notify depository that Uzbekistan carried out all necessary internal procedures, necessary to implement the agreement.
The new transport corridor will run from Uzbekistan across Turkmenistan and then to the Gulf via Iran, bypassing Afghanistan.
According to the Uzbek side, the establishment of railway road communication from Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan to southern ports of Iran will help to create important transport network among the countries of Persian and Oman Gulfs and all Central Asian states.
