TX Logistik, a subsidiary of FS Logistix, has put the last of 40 modern Vectron locomotives into service.
The company ordered the locomotives from Siemens Mobility in 2023, and the investment was aimed at gradually phasing out some leased models. This allows the operator TX Logistik to operate more flexibly on the market with its own fleet of locomotives.
TX Logistik is part of FS Logistix, the freight logistics brand of the FS Italiane Group, and is responsible for rail freight transport within the European intermodal network. Building its own rolling stock fleet is an important step in further strengthening the network. At the same time, the modern Vectron locomotives will contribute to more sustainable transport. They will mainly be used on the north-south European axes, through the Brenner Pass and through Switzerland. These heavily trafficked corridors place high demands on the locomotives used, from traction power and stability to cross-border system compatibility.
TX Logistik has ordered the locomotives with different equipment packages for several countries. The first 20 modern Vectron locomotives, equipped for operation in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Italy, and the Netherlands (D-A-CH-I-NL), were delivered by the beginning of 2025. The delivery of the 20 locomotives equipped for operation on the Germany–Austria–Italy (D-A-I) corridor was completed with the commissioning of the last Vectron locomotive ordered.
According to TX Logistik, the flexibility and performance of the new locomotives provide ideal technical conditions to meet the growing demands of European freight transport. In the medium term, the company will be able to increase capacity on the Brenner and Switzerland corridors and further improve the efficiency and reliability of rail freight transport with its modern fleet of Vectron locomotives.
Since the delivery of the first Vectron locomotive in September 2024, TX Logistik has covered more than five million kilometers in intermodal transport with the new locomotives. In total, TX Logistik owns and leases 90 locomotives, which have covered approximately 13.5 million kilometers during this period.
