The state-owned rail operator TCDD has increased fares for high-speed trains by 6.5 per cent, marking the second price rise since the start of the year. A standard economy-class ticket between Ankara and Istanbul now costs TRY 990, the equivalent of approximately EUR 17.8.
Journeys on Turkiye’s high-speed trains have become more expensive once again, after the state-owned rail operator TCDD updated fares for the main intercity routes.
On the Ankara–Istanbul route, the price of a standard one-way economy-class ticket has risen from TRY 930 (approximately EUR 16.7) to TRY 990 (EUR 17.8), representing an increase of approximately 6.5 per cent.
This is the second fare increase for high-speed trains in Turkiye since the start of 2026.
New fares on the main routes
The update has been implemented in TCDD’s ticketing systems and applies to economy-class tickets on several routes.
Thus, a ticket for the Ankara–Eskişehir route now costs TRY 511 (approximately EUR 9.2), whilst the fare for the Ankara–Konya route is TRY 458 (EUR8.2).
The journey from Ankara to Sivas costs TRY 1,001 (approximately EUR 18).
For journeys departing from Eskişehir, the new fares are TRY 639 to Istanbul (EUR 11.5), TRY 601 to Sakarya (EUR 10.8), TRY 708 to Konya (EUR 12.7) and TRY 1,597 to Sivas (EUR 28.7).
On the Konya–Istanbul route, an economy class ticket now costs TRY 1,442, the equivalent of approximately EUR 26.
The revised fares also apply to journeys involving connections via Eskişehir and Konya.
The high-speed network continues to expand
Turkiye began operating high-speed trains in March 2009, with the launch of the Ankara–Eskişehir service.
The network was subsequently extended to the Ankara–Konya, Eskişehir–Konya, Ankara–Istanbul, Konya–Istanbul, Konya–Karaman, Ankara–Sivas and Istanbul–Sivas routes, gradually connecting the main urban centres in the centre and west of Turkiye.
The government is continuing work on several new projects, including Ankara–Izmir, Mersin–Adana–Osmaniye–Gaziantep, Bandırma–Bursa–Yenişehir–Osmaneli, Halkalı–Kapıkule and Yerköy–Kayseri.
The Karaman–Ulukışla and Kırıkkale–Çorum sections are also under construction.
Over 12 million passengers by 2025
By the end of 2025, Turkiye had approximately 2,032 km of high-speed rail infrastructure, out of a total national network of 13,919 km.
In the same year, over 12 million passengers travelled on high-speed trains.
