Turkey sets a new high speed line tender

Turkey State Railways (TCDD) announces that the high-speed railway line linking two of the most industrially developed cities, Bursa and Bilecik, will be completed in 2019.

Before the construction of this line, the city of Bursa was not served by the conventional rail network at all. The new line, 75 km long, will be designed for mixed traffic, both passenger and freight trains, with a running speed of 250 km / h. The works are carried out on two sections: Bursa-Yenişehir and Yenişehir-Bozüyük-Bilecik.  For the first section the works also include the construction of 20 viaducts and 44 railway bridges.

By the end of 2017, TCDD will announce the tender for the second section of the line, Yenişehir -Bozüyük-Bilecik. These works will include the construction of the superstructure and the installation of electrification, signaling and telecommunication equipment.

Then, from Bilecik, an extension will be built to the Eskişehir-Gebze high-speed line. Starting from the same extension, a branch will be built towards the Ankara-Istabul high-speed railway.
After the completion of works, the distance between Bursa and Ankara will be covered in 2 hours and 15 minutes while the distance between Bursa and Eskișehir will be crossed in 1 hour.
