Traxx DC3 locomotive for Poland unveiled

Bombardier Transportation and Akiem presented at Trako the new Traxx DC3 locomotive for Polish railway market, “which offer increased power and efficiency, intelligent adhesion control allowing maximum train loads and improved maintenance intervals,” said Sławomir Nalewajka, Head of Bombardier Transportation Poland.
Traxx DC3 is a state-of-the-art locomotive, able to maximize energy efficiency, ensuring greater load, traction capacity and lower energy consumption. One of the most interesting features of the new locomotive is the Las Mile function that offers new logistical concepts by allowing operation on non-electrified track sections which are often in ports and freight terminals. This feature can be also installed as a post-delivery upgrade.
In November 2018, Akiem ordered 20 Traxx DC3 locomotives under a contract for 33 Traxx locomotives (in MS2, AC3 and DC3 versions), valuated at EUR 113 million. The locomotives will be delivered between 2019 and 2021.
In February 2019, the two companies introduced the four-axle Traxx DC3 locomotive for Poland at Wroclaw plant, by presenting vehicle’s carbody.
By 2020, Akiem will have a fleet of 180 Traxx locomotives which will lead to reliable and cost-effective traction services for passenger and freight operators.
