Transdev orders 64 Flirt EMUs

Stadler will design, build and supply Transdev 64 Flirt EMUs for rail passenger services on the Hanover suburban railway network. The value of the contract is EUR 320 million. The vehicles achieve a maximum speed of 160km/h.
The three-part trains for Hanover suburban rail services have a total vehicle length of 68 metres with eight passenger doors on each side that allow fast passenger exchange. The train has 180 seats, with a total capacity of 397 passengers in the video-monitored passenger areas.
The EMUs are barrier-free, have bright, friendly passenger areas, special space for the transport of up to twelve bicycles, bulky luggage and pushchairs. They are equipped with sockets for charging e-bikes and spaces for wheelchairs in accordance to TSI PRM.
The modern passenger information system with monitors in each entrance area and also the on-board WiFi equipment allow the passengers to keep up-to-date in real-time during their journey.
Transdev GmbH has won the tender to operate the network and starting 2021, its subsidiary Nordwestbahn will operate the 12 suburban railway lines in and around the capital of Lower Saxony.
Currently, in Germany, Transdev operates a fleet of 100 Flirt trains of varying configurations and equipment.
